Steel Passion continues a tradition of steel bands serving Christ Episcopal Church and the river communities of the Hudson Valley, dating back to1965, and in its present configuration since 1991. The band plays for fund raisers, community events, churches, group homes, senior homes, libraries, weddings, parades, street fairs, beach and boat clubs, and private parties. The band provides programs for school children that introduce the history and evolution of steel pans and their characteristic music.
Steel Passion is an all steel band with a big sound. While the music has an island cadence, the band's repertoire is global, ranging from calypso to pop to jazz to classical and liturgical.
